Feeling confident that your desires are on their way, you go about your mornings with a smile on your face and a spring in your step.
But before long the doubts start creeping in.
Those limiting beliefs that you thought you had dealt with somehow find a way back into your consciousness.
Perhaps these negative thoughts appear on the very day that you were planning to ask your future soulmate on a date…
Maybe it happens just before you make an announcement to your boss that you are leaving to pursue that dream career you have been manifesting.
Whatever the scenario, negative thoughts occur when your mind reverts back to past thinking.
The pessimistic voice of your subconscious mind will pick at an insignificant flaw until it becomes a gaping wound.
This influx of unwanted thoughts leads you into panic mode which only creates even more frustration and negative thinking.
Before you know it, you have talked yourself out of taking a leap toward your desires.
Your ego takes over and decides that if you never try you will never fail.
What the ego fails to see is that the only chance you will ever regret is the one you didn’t take.
Having negative thoughts does not make you a failure.

We are quite happy to point the finger inward and judge ourselves.

From birth, you have been exposed to a system of fear and uncertainty.
You grew up watching the fears of your immediate and extended family being discussed around the dinner table.
What’s more, your friends and family have all been influenced by social conditioning in one way or another.
Have you ever experienced friends or family trying to talk you out of an ambition or goal you had?
Often their reservations do not come from a place of resentment and malice but rather fear.
Fear-based programming creates an illusion that no desire is worth the risk of potential failure.
So you see, negative thoughts are everywhere and fighting against them only causes resistance.
The first step when it comes to dealing with negative thoughts is always to accept them as what they are without judging yourself.
Like a child, the best way to deal with unsavory behavior is to notice it but at the same time, offer no reaction.
Next time you find yourself being overcome with a negative thought, observe the thought as if you are on the outside looking in.
Take a moment to ponder its source but then let it go without judgment.

1.) Show Gratitude For the Things you Already Have
The feeling of gratitude is one of the highest vibrations you can emit. Being thankful for your current state is cleansing to the mind and soul.
So often people tend to live in the regret of the past or the hope for the future and they forget to be thankful for right now.
The past is in your mind…
The future is in your mind…
All we really have is right now so why not appreciate it? Be thankful for the present because tomorrow never comes.
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery but today is a gift, that’s why it’s called the present.”
It’s important to remember that every day is a blessing.
You control your own happiness so raise your positive vibration by making the act of gratitude a daily habit.
Here are some great ways for you to show gratitude even on the gloomiest of days:
- Write a list of everything you are thankful for today. It could be health, friends, family or simply the weather.
- Make a habit of complimenting your loved ones to show what you appreciate about them.
- Have empathy for the less fortunate, doing so will make you really appreciate what you have.
- Offer small acts of kindness to others to show gratitude for their presence in your life.
- Take time to observe and appreciate the beauty in nature.
2.) Find The Patterns
When you observe your negative thoughts from a place of acceptance, you are able to be a bit more inquisitive about where these negative thoughts come from without becoming defensive.
Identifying patterns in your negative thinking will help you to uncover the layers of your ego in order to understand the root cause behind these protective barriers.
Remember, negative thoughts are usually adopted by the ego due to fear of failure.
If you can find the patterns where the ego overrides the mindset then you can be better prepared for future triggers.
Next time you observe negative thoughts pop into your mind, ask yourself the following:
- Which thought triggered a negative response?
- How does this negative thought affect the way my body feels? (breathing patterns, heart rate etc)
- What is this negative thought trying to protect me from?
- Is this defense mechanism helpful or is it inhibiting my personal growth?
After a while, you will begin to notice a pattern.
For example, you may discover that a negative thought pops into your mind every time you contemplate trying something new.
In this example, you would be able to see that your ego has created a fear to keep you from stepping out of your comfort zone and that’s OK.
You know that this protective barrier has been put in place for your own safety and you can now make a conscious decision on whether or not the fear is rational.
3.) Take Control Of Your Health And Well Being
A study found that eating the unhealthy foods you crave releases dopamine into your brain, which is a neurotransmitter that controls the brains’ pleasure systems.
This explains why we reach for that tub of ice cream whenever we have had a bad day…
The problem with this is that the release of dopamine is a short-term fix.
Have you ever overindulged in junk food because it felt good at the time only to find that hours and even days later depression and guilt sets in?
The long-term effects of eating junk food include:
- Lack of concentration
- Memory loss
Not to mention the various physical implications including diabetes and cancer.
From the list above you can easily see how unhealthy foods could contribute to negative thinking.
Now, I am not suggesting that you cut out all treats.
Life is for living and the occasional indulgence is not going to ruin your life, however, when it comes to manifestation you are going to find it a lot easier to have a positive mindset when you are nourishing your body with feel-good food.
As the saying goes “Good Food, Good Mood”.
Here are a few food choices that are scientifically proven to help boost your mood:
- Bananas – Natures anti-depressants. Banana’s help the body to generate serotonin.
- Dark Chocolate – Small amounts of dark chocolate help to release stress in the body.
- Salmon – Salmon contains high levels of omega 3 which has been proven to lower stress and anxiety levels.
- Green Tea – Full of amino acids, this wellness all-rounder is amazing for physical, mental and emotional health.
- Blueberries – Considered a super-food, Blueberries are rich in antioxidants activating higher brain function.
Incorporating 30 minutes of movement a day into your life is a great way to release endorphins.
Find an exercise routine that suits you, whether its lifting weights in the gym, dance, gentle yoga or even a daily walk around the block.
If you can include some sunshine and fresh air you will also get an added dose of vitamin D.
Making some time to get active will allow you to clear your mind and improve your well being as a whole.
Reaching fitness goals can be really rewarding for the mindset and will allow you to step into the best version of yourself.
4.) Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

With today’s technology, it has become easier than ever to take a glimpse into the lives of others.
Comparing lives with famous celebrities, models and sports stars is a popular pass time for “ordinary folk” all over the world.
Social media and reality TV have created a complete culture of inadequacy.
Mindless scrolling of your news feed has been proven to lower mood and increase stress and anxiety.
The worst thing is that when you compare yourself to others, you lose what makes you special.
That magic that is uniquely yours becomes shadowed by depression and envy.

- Let those who inspire you, charge your excitement for the future.
- There is nobody in the world quite like you.
5.) Quit With The Labels
Have you ever had an embarrassing moment that felt like it would scar you for life?
Something so terrible that it shaped your entire perception of who you think you are?
Perhaps you fainted on stage which has caused you to label yourself as someone who suffers from stage fright.
Or maybe you were bullied as a child which has created a limiting belief that you do not fit in with groups.

6.) Use Positive Affirmations
Becoming more positive is all about re-training your subconscious mind and there is no better way to do that than to use positive affirmations.
The subconscious mind stops developing at 7 years old.
What this means is that when you train it, you need to do so as if it were a 7-year-old child.
Affirmations can either be recited, written or listened to through an audio track.
Subliminal affirmations can be particularly helpful in reprogramming the subconscious toward more abundance, fast.
In time, your subconscious mind learns to be more positive without prompting and positive affirmations will begin to come naturally.
In tricky situations, your subconscious mind will be more confident with saying “I can” rather than “I can’t”.
